Anastasia (Hasak) Starosielski

SPRINGFIELD ~ Anastasia (Hasak) Starosielski, 96, of the Glenwood section of Springfield, was Called Safely Home on Friday, June 1, 2018. She entered into Eternal Life at home surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family. She was born in Babruysk, Belarus on January 19, 1922, the beloved daughter of the late Gregory and Xenia (Kartkevich) Hasak. She was raised and educated in Babruysk and immigrated to New York in 1950. She moved to Tenth Street in Springfield in 1952 and later to the Glenwood section of Springfield in 1954 where she lived the remainder of her life. Anastasia’s passion was sewing. She was a wonderful seamstress and had worked at the former Rainbow Girl Coat Company in Springfield. If anyone needed something sewn, Anastasia was the person to ask. She was a member of Saint Peter and Saint Paul Russian Orthodox Church in Springfield. Above all, she loved spending time with her family and her many friends. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Julian Starosielski who was Called Home on June 25, 1965; her dear son-in-law, Joseph F. Heroux who was Called Home on September 23, 2005; her cherished grandson, Alexander “Alex” Starosielski who was Called Home on December 21, 2015; and her dear brother, Pavel Hasak. She leaves her four loving children, Pavel Starosielski and his wife, Darlene, of Hopewell Junction, NY, Irene Heroux of Tool, TX, Sergei Starosielski and his wife, Primela, of Ashburn, VA and Marianna Starosielski of Springfield; her four cherished grandchildren who will miss their “Baba”, Larissa Irrera and her husband, Michael, Eric Starosielski and his wife, Amita, Nicole Starosielski and her partner, Jamie Skye Bianco, and Saundra Starosielski; her seven cherished great-grandchildren who loved their “Double Baba”, Siena Irrera, twins Anika and Eeshan Starosielski and Nickolas, Alanna, Evan and Lilliana Starosielski; and her many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and extended members of the Starosielski and Hasak families. Her Funeral will be held on Thursday, June 7, 2018 beginning at the St. Pierre ~ Phaneuf Springfield Chapels, (413-737-1177), 7 Chapin Terrace, Springfield, MA 01107, (funeral home will open at 8:30 a.m.), followed by a Funeral Service at 10 a.m. at Saint George Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 2320 Main Street, Springfield, MA 01107. Her Burial will follow the Funeral Service at Oak Grove Cemetery, 426 Bay Street, Springfield, MA 01109. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, June 6, 2018 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. For those who prefer, her family requests that memorial donations be made in her memory to Saint George Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 22 Saint George Road, Springfield, MA 01104.
