FALL RIVER - Mary Santos, 101, a lifelong resident of Fall River, MA, died May 30, 2018, at Charlton Memorial Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. She resided on Maple Street until moving to Kimwell Healthcare in 2015. Mary was born January 3, 1917, in Fall River, MA, to Manual P. and Mary (Faria) Oliveira. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Arthur P. Santos, brothers Manuel Oliveira and James Oliveira (Lena), and sister Alice Leite.
Mary worked at Ideal Laundry for many years, in addition to raising her six children and helping with the grandchildren. Besides spending time with her family, her favorite pastimes were shopping, walking, and sewing. The weather never deterred her from venturing out, as she expertly navigated the Fall River city streets and bus schedules well into her 90’s.
Mary is survived by three daughters and three sons: Nancy Fontaine (Emile) of Fall River, MA, Arthur P. Santos Jr. (Kim) of Pawtucket, RI, David Santos (Debby) of Rancho San Diego, CA, Cheryl Marion of Fall River, MA, Ricky Santos of Fall River, MA, and Doreen Levrault (Felix) of New Bedford, MA. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
Her funeral will take place from the Manuel Rogers & Sons Funeral Home Inc. 1521 N. Main St., Fall River on Monday here at 8:00 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Anthony of Padua Church at 9:00 A.M. Interment in Notre Dame Cemetery. Calling hours on Sunday from 4-7 P.M.
