Gladys A. (Such) Sokolowski Beaudry

CHICOPEE ~ Gladys A. (Such) Sokolowski Beaudry, 93, of the Fairview section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Sunday, April 29, 2018. She passed into Eternal Life at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving husband, Richard. She was born at home on Cabot Street in Chicopee Center on May 26, 1924, a beloved daughter of the late John and Joanna (Roman) Such. She was raised in Chicopee, attended local schools and moved to Fairview in 1988. She previously was employed at the former H. R. Hunting Book Binding Company in Chicopee and later worked as an Inspector for over 20 years at the Smith & Wesson Company in Springfield, retiring in 1988. She was a member of the Fairview American Legion Post 438 Women’s Auxiliary, the former Saint Mary’s Women’s Guild and the Faithful Wives Association of the Bishop Joseph F. Maguire Assembly 2670 of the Fairview Council 4044 Knights of Columbus. Active in her Catholic faith, Gladys was a longtime communicant of the former Saint Mary of the Assumption Church in the Willimansett section of Chicopee and currently was a communicant of Sainte Rose de Lima Church in the Aldenville section of Chicopee. Most of all, she was a loving wife and homemaker who adored her family and showered them with her love and affection which was returned to her a thousand fold. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Walter F. Sokolowski who was Called Home on April 22, 1967; and her loving daughter, Jean G. Boudreau who was Called Home on May 26, 2002. She leaves her beloved husband and best friend, Richard F. Beaudry. They were married on June 26, 1991 at the former Saint Mary of the Assumption Church in Willimansett and were blessed with over 26 years of happiness together. She also leaves her loving son-in-law, Paul Boudreau and his wife, Donna, of East Longmeadow; her loving step-son, Richard F. Beaudry, Jr. and his wife, Kim, of Ashfield; her loving step-daughter, Joyce A. Bosworth of Ludlow; her two cherished grandchildren, Kimberly Nowakowski and Paul Boudreau and his wife, Laura; her three cherished great-grandchildren, Brandon Nowakowski, Tyler Nowakowski and Evan Boudreau; and her many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and extended members of the Beaudry, Such and Sokolowski families. In addition to her parents, first husband and daughter, she was predeceased by her four dear brothers and four dear sisters, Stanley, Edward, Walter and John Such, Estelle Piela, Carolyn Turek, Steffania Kapinos and Jane Zielinski. Her funeral will be held on Friday morning, May 4, 2018 beginning at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, (funeral home will open at 8 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. in Sainte Rose de Lima Church, 600 Grattan Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her Burial will follow the Mass at Saint Stanislaus Cemetery, 800 Montgomery Street, Chicopee, MA 01013. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday morning, May 4, 2018 from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. before the Mass. The parking lot is located in the rear of the funeral home at 20 Lafayette Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her family requests in lieu of flowers that memorial donations be made in her memory to the Saint Joan of Arc School, 587 Grattan Street, Chicopee, MA 01020.
