Juliette E. (Thomas) DeMers

CHICOPEE ~ Juliette E. (Thomas) DeMers, 92, of the Aldenville section of Chicopee, passed away peacefully at Mount Saint Vincent Care Center in Holyoke on Thursday, April 26, 2018. She was born on November 9, 1925, a daughter of the late Fred W. and Edna (Larose) Thomas. She was a graduate of Cathedral High School and the Springfield Civil Service School. She also attended American International College in Springfield. She was a longtime employee in the office of Eastern Specialties Company in Holyoke and volunteered many years at Our Lady of Providence Home for Children (“Brightside”). She was married to Robert A. DeMers, an electrical contractor in the central Maine and New Hampshire area who predeceased her in 2001. She leaves her three step daughters, Lynnette Rossignol Lee, Bettina Bouffard and Maida DeMers-Dobson and their spouses, children and grandchildren; her brother, Dr. Paul F. Thomas; and her many nephews and nieces. In addition to her parents and husband, she was also predeceased by her sister and brother-in-law, Annette Campbell and her husband, Gerard; her sister-in-law, Elizabeth P. (McMahon) Thomas; and her nephew, David A. Thomas. Her family would like to extend their gratitude to her caregivers at Mount Saint Vincent Care Center for their care of Juliette during her time with them. Her funeral will be held on Wednesday, May 2, 2018 beginning at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, (funeral home will open at 9 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. in Sainte Rose de Lima Church, 600 Grattan Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her Burial will follow the Mass at Sainte Rose Cemetery, 49 Olsen Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, May 1, 2018 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. The parking lot and main entrance are located in the rear of the funeral home at 20 Lafayette Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her family has requested that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in her memory to Saint Joan of Arc School, 587 Grattan Street, Chicopee, MA 01020 or a charity of the donor’s choice.
