Obituary

Mr. Hugh J. MacIsaac, owner of DeScenza Diamonds, a longtime resident of Medford and Scituate and beloved husband of the late Doris A. (DeScenza) MacIsaac, died at his home, surrounded by his loving family on Sunday morning, April 15, 2018. He was 97 years old.

Born in Everett, Massachusetts, on March 7, 1921, he was the beloved son of the late Hugh and Rachel M. (MacDonald) MacIsaac. An Army veteran of WWII, Mr. MacIsaac entered the military at Boston on August 20, 1942 and received his honorable discharge from Ft. Devens on January 15, 1946. While serving in the Army, Hugh attained the rank of Staff Sergeant in the Signal Corps. He was awarded the Asiatic Pacific Theater Campaign Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal and the Victory Medal for his exemplary service. Mr. MacIsaac was a longtime communicant of St. Joseph Church in Medford. He was a past president of the Holy Name Society, a member of the Knights of Columbus a member of the Board of Directors for the Medford Savings Bank and a member of the Gemological Institute of America. He was also a member of the Boston College FIDES Club and received the Pellegrini Award from Boston College. Hugh loved to play golf with his wife, Doris, at the Hatherly Country Club in Scituate.

Hugh will be very sorely missed by his loving family; Ann and her husband James Paolucci of Okatie, South Carolina, Hugh and his wife Jan MacIsaac of Groveland, Irene and her husband Patrick Hoffman of Wilmington, Neil and his wife Mary MacIsaac of Natick, Elaine and her husband Paul Molloy of Stoneham, Gregory and his wife Nancy MacIsaac of Scituate, John and his wife Elif MacIsaac of Weymouth, Doris and her husband Gerard Letendre of North Reading and Paul and his wife Kathleen MacIsaac of Medford, 29 Grandchildren, 19 Great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and loving care takers; Miledez Erazo, Luz Gonzales, Ana Guzman-Gauthier and Heather O'Hare.

His Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Joseph Church, 118 High Street, Medford on Monday, April 23, 2018, at 11:30 AM. Relatives and friends are most welcome to attend. Visiting hours will be held in St. Joseph Church on Sunday, from 3 to 7 PM. Interment will be held in Oak Grove Cemetery in Medford.
