Worcester: Ruth G. (Maylott) Cartier, 90, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 9, 2018 in St. Francis Home. She leaves 2 sons- Steven Cartier of Worcester and Edward Cartier of Webster; a daughter- Donna Wood of CA; 5 grandchildren- Edward Cartier II, Eric Cartier, Emily Cartier, Robert Gumentaro, and Stephen Giumentaro; 4 great-grandchildren Kiara, Morgan, Kamren, and Theodore; 2 sisters- Betty Jane Halley of Shrewsbury and Janet Pierce of Maine; and several nieces and nephews. Ruth was predeceased by her husband of 48 years Albert Cartier; and 3 sisters- Phyllis Gigilotti, Marjorie Hjelm, and Barbara Chapin.
Ruth was born in Leicester, daughter of the late Arthur and Beatrice (Schofield) Maylott. She graduated from Commerce High School and worked for many years as an LSM Operator at the Worcester Post Office, retiring in 1992. She was a member of Our Lady of the Rosary and enjoyed playing cards and Bingo and taking trips to the casino. What she enjoyed the most was spending time with her family, especially her great-grandchildren.
Calling hours will be held on Saturday, April 14, 2018 from 12:00 noon - 2 p.m. in Nordgren Funeral Home 300 Lincoln St. Worcester. A funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home. Burial will be at a later date in Cherry Valley Cemetery in Leicester. In lieu of flowers, donations in Ruth's name may be made to St. Jude.
