SPRINGFIELD – Pauline E. Comtois, 89, of Springfield, was Called Safely Home on Monday, April 2, 2018. She peacefully passed into Eternal Life at the Harmony House in Chicopee surrounded by the care and comfort of her wonderful caregivers. She was born in Springfield on February 27, 1929, a beloved daughter of the late Philippe L. and Angelina M. (Bibeault) Comtois. She was raised in Springfield and had lived in the city for most of her life. She had worked as a cake decorator for Hathaway Bakery, Bond Bakery, the Coffee Kup and the A & P Bakery, all in Springfield. She retired as a housekeeper at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield in 1992. She was a communicant of the former Our Lady of Hope Church and a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, both in Springfield. Pauline was an artist as well as a meticulous cake decorator. She loved completing puzzles and was a bingo enthusiast. Above all, she was the proud “Favorite Auntie” to her 21 nephews and nieces and was a faithful and loving caregiver to her parents, family members and friends. She leaves her dear sister, Marie Blanche Martin of Baltic, CT; her dear brother-in-law, Eugene Brodeur, Jr. of Jensen Beach, FL; her dear sister-in-law, Gertrude Comtois of Wilbraham; and her many beloved nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and extended family members. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her two dear sisters, Florence Canterbury and her husband, Gerald “Bud” Canterbury, and Theresa Brodeur; her dear brother, Aime Comtois; her dear brother-in-law, Leonard Martin, Sr.; her beloved niece, Mary Elizabeth Canterbury; and her beloved nephew, Richard Comtois. Family and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Wednesday, April 11, 2018 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. which will be followed by a Prayer Service at 1 p.m. at the St. Pierre-Phaneuf Springfield Chapels, (413-737-1177), 7 Chapin Terrace, Springfield, MA 01107. Her Burial will follow the Prayer Service at Saint Michael Cemetery, 1601 State Street, Springfield, MA 01109. Pauline’s family invites those ordering flowers to please send Lilies as they were her favorite.
