Thomas "T" Tabb

SPRINGFIELD – Thomas “T” Tabb, 63, of the Sixteen Acres section of Springfield, was Called Safely Home on Thursday, March 29, 2018 from complications of Progressive Supranuclear Palsy. He passed into Eternal Life at Loomis Lakeside at Reeds Landing in Springfield. He was born in Springfield on April 16, 1954, a beloved son of the late James P. and Lucille G. (Tutty) Tabb. He was raised on Liberty Street in the Hungry Hill section of Springfield and graduated from Cathedral High School in 1972. “T” lived in Springfield for many years and later resided in East Longmeadow for 25 years before returning to Springfield. He furthered his education and attended Wilbraham Monson Academy and Salem State College. He was employed as a maintenance man for the Beacon Communities in Springfield for over 30 years and most recently worked for the City of Springfield. Tom was a local hockey legend who coached youth hockey for many years. He was a very talented carpenter and many of his family members and friends benefited from his home improvement skills. Above all, Tom loved spending time with his family and many friends. He leaves his beloved wife and best friend, Patricia A. “Patty” (Donohue) Tabb. They were married on October 17, 1980 at the former Our Lady of Hope Church in Springfield and were blessed with over 37 years of happiness together. He also leaves his two loving children, Thomas J. Tabb and his partner, Krista Kelly, of Arundel, ME and Marybeth V. Tabb of Springfield; his three dear brothers, James Tabb and his wife, Virginia, of Somers, CT, Gerald Tabb and his wife, Martha, of Holland, MA and Barry Tabb and his wife, Patricia, of Somers, CT; his two dear sisters-in-laws, Margaret A. “Peggy” Ketchum and her husband, Kenneth, of Ludlow and Mary K. Weaver and her husband, Richard, of Northborough, MA; his dear brother-in-law, James J. Donohue and his wife, Nancy, of West Springfield; and his many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and extended members of the Tabb and Donohue families. His family would like to extend their special thanks to the staff at Reeds Landing for all the love and care they provided Tom. His Funeral will be held on Monday, April 2, 2018 beginning at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Springfield Chapels, (413-737-1177), 7 Chapin Terrace, Springfield, MA 01107, (funeral home will open at 8:30 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, 395 Chestnut Street, Springfield, MA 01104. His Burial will follow the Mass at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 421 Tinkham Road, Springfield, MA 01129.
