CHESTERFIELD, VA … Rita L. (Pelletier) Morrissette, 89, of Chesterfield VA, formerly of Fall River, passed away March 15, 2018. She was the widow of Raymond A. Morrissette.
She was born in Westport, MA a daughter of the late Pierre and Alma L. (Cote) Pelletier and had lived in Fall River most of her life. She was a communicant of the former Notre Dame Church before moving to Chesterfield.
Rita was employed as a retail clerk with Mullen Brothers Jewelry retiring in 1996.
Mrs. Morrissette was a member of the Ladies of St. Anne’s of Notre Dame Church, Eucharistic Minister since 1982, Notre Dame Church Choir, and Little Rose Prayer Group.
Survivors include 2 sons: Raymond J. Morrissette and his wife Susan of Burlington, VT and Marc L. Morrissette and his wife Robin of Plainville, MA, 3 daughters: Sr. Paula Morrissette, OP of Montauban, France, Joan M. Ponton of Tucson, AZ, and Paula Hamel and her husband Armand of Chesterfield VA, a brother Pierre E. Pelletier, Jr. of Westport, 3 grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Loretta Pelletier, Edward J. Pelletier, Albert J. Pelletier, Louis Pelletier, Theresa Daigle, and Rose Morrissette, step sister of the late Charlie Pelletier, Henry, Joseph Pelletier, and Blanche Hebert.
Services to which relatives and friends are invited will be held Friday at 9AM from the SOUTH COAST FUNERAL HOME, 1555 PLEASANT Street, Fall River, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10AM at St. Bernard’s Church, 30 South Main St., Assonet, MA. Calling hours will be Thursday from 5 – 8 PM. Interment will be in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne, MA.
