Sandra Mae Doyle Torres , known to all as Sandy, 76 years old , longtime resident of Ventura, CA "went home to God" peacefully on Sunday, March 18, 2018. She was the beloved mother to seven children and the faithful wife to her husband Paul.
Sandy grew up in the Cypress Park neighborhood of Los Angeles with six other siblings. She was a devout Catholic who at a young age considered the religious life, but then met Paul and decided that marriage was her calling. They married in 1963 and raised their family first in Los Angeles, and later Ventura.
Sandy devoted her life to the service of others. She taught religious education to children, volunteered at the hospital as a Eucharistic minister to the sick, and served the priests' rectory for years. She loved cycling to daily mass, the beach, and swimming at the YMCA. Of the little she had, she gave freely and generously to all those in need including the homeless, the hungry, and the sick.
Sandy is survived by her three sons: Vincent, Michael, and Patrick; and her two daughters: Susanne and Rachel. She will be greatly missed.
Family and friends are invited to visit from 4:00 to 6:00 pm on Wednesday, March 21, 2018 in Our Lady of the Assumption Church, 3175 Telegraph Rd, Ventura. A most Holy Rosary will be recited at 5:00 pm on Wednesday in the OLA Church. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Thursday, March 22, 2018 in Our Lady of the Assumption Church. Burial will follow at Santa Clara Catholic Cemetery, Oxnard. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to help pay for the funeral and burial. Arrangements are under the care of the JOSEPH P. REARDON FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICE, 757 E. Main Street, Ventura.
