Obituary

Anita Andrade Montiel, a life-long resident of Ventura, died unexpectedly on March 9, 2018 at the youthful age of 73. Born in Ventura on March 1st 1945, she attended Holy Cross, St. Catherine’s, graduated from Ventura High School in 1963, and attained an AA+ from Ventura College.
Anita retired from State Compensation Insurance Fund as a claims adjuster, and worked at Hazelrigg/Corvel, where she created a special family of co-workers that she loved dearly.
Anita’s accomplishments include; Board member of the American Cancer Society (ACS), volunteer for American Cancer Society during “Daffodil” Fund Raiser; Member of Commission on Human Concerns; Member of Governor’s Advisory Committee and Child Development; Member of State Department of Education roundtable Committee on Child Development. Member of State Department of Education Roundtable Committee on Child Development. Founding member of Child Abuse and Neglect (CAAN) and Council Against Household Violence (CAHV), and up to her untimely passing, Anita was an active member of The Assistance League with focus on “The B.U.F.F.Y Bear”.
Anita was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great - grandmother. She enjoyed a highly active social life with her friends and family. An avid world traveler, and lifetime lover of all types of good music. She will be deeply missed by her friends, family, and all who knew her. Anita was every stranger’s friend.
Anita was proceeded in death, by her parents Robert Montiel and Max and Leoni Mora, and her spouse Daniel Louis Andrade. She is survived by her children Scott Andrade (Dina) of Camarillo; Kristin Andrade Oxendine (Chris) of Highpoint N. Carolina and Buffy Andrade Castillo (Sean) of Ventura; she leaves her siblings Max Mora (Angie), Thomas Mora (Anna), David Mora (Linda), Jim Mora (Carolyn), and Cathy Barron (Bobby); Anita was so proud of her grandchildren; Julian Andrade (Lisa), Aslyn Rau (Katharine), Kai Castillo, Emily Rau (David), Ahren Rau, Sunny Castillo, Hannah Rau and Lulu Castillo, Aaron Oxendine (Kristen), Alex Oxendine (Taylor), and Jared Oseguer. Great-grandchildren include; Damian, Nathaniel, Taylor, Jaxson, Nolan and Jackson.
Family and friends are invited to visiting hours to be held on Wednesday March 14, 2018 from 5 to 9pm in the JOSEPH P. REARDON FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICE, 757 E. Main Street Ventura, where a Most Holy Rosary will be recited at 7pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10am Thursday March 15, 2018 in Our Lady of the Assumption Roman Catholic Church, 3175 Telegraph Road Ventura.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Assistance League Fund of Ventura.
