West Boylston-Steven J. Potvin, 62, of West Boylston, formerly of Holden, passed away surrounded by family on Tuesday, March 6 in the Rose Monahan Hospice House.

Steve had a long career as an electrical engineer, an occupation to which he devoted his time and energy. He most recently worked at IPG Photonics in Oxford. At home, Steven was a consummate handyman; always engaged in various home-improvement projects. He spent his leisure time traveling and vacationing on Cape Cod. Steven was passionate about cooking. Sundays were often spent watching the Patriots, or golf, while cooking for family and friends. He and Deb enjoyed exploring New England and discovering new restaurants.

He leaves his wife of 40 years, Deborah A. (Gallant) Potvin; a son, Michael J. Potvin of Morrisville, VT; his mother, Barbara E. (McCormick) Potvin of Lancaster; a brother, Robert Potvin and his wife, Kathleen of Topsham, ME; a sister, Nancy Marrone and her husband, Edward of Lancaster; two sisters-in-law, Donna Beaulac and her husband Barry of West Boylston and Anne Marie Gallant of Worcester; a brother-in-law, Michael Gallant and his wife, Cheryl of Worcester and nieces and nephews. He was born in Worcester, son of Robert L. Potvin. He is a graduate of West Boylston High School, Worcester Industrial Technical Institute and Johnson and Wales University.

Visiting Hours are Sunday, March 11 from 2:00 to 5:00PM with a Prayer Service at 4:30PM in Fay Brothers Funeral Home, 1 West Boylston Street. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to, the VNA Care Network and Hospice, 120 Thomas St., Worcester, 01608 or to the American Cancer Assoc., 30 Speen St., Framingham, 01701.
