CHICOPEE – Roland E. Capistrant, 83, of the Aldenville section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Saturday, March 3, 2018. He passed into Eternal Life at Holyoke Medical Center surrounded by the care and comfort of his loving family. He was born in South Hadley on Christmas Eve, December 24, 1934, a beloved son of the late Doriea G. and Beulah A. (Moriarty) Capistrant. He was raised and educated in Holyoke and had moved to Chicopee in 1954 where he lived the remainder of his life. He was employed for many years as a bricklayer and had worked for Roger Nadeau Construction and later Chabot and Burnett Construction. He was a communicant of Sainte Rose de Lima Church in Chicopee. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed his “As Seen On TV” collection of everything he saw for sale on television. Above all, he loved spending time with his beloved family and visiting with his many friends at the Royal Café in Chicopee. He leaves his beloved wife and best friend, Jeanne E. (Couture) Capistrant. They were married on May 1, 1954 at Sainte Rose de Lima Church in Chicopee and were blessed with over 63 years of happiness together. He also leaves his three loving children, Retired United States Air Force Master Sergeant Glenn D. Capistrant and his wife, Lee, of Okinawa, Japan, Gail A. Carrier and husband, James, of Chicopee and Susan M. Bolduc and her husband, David, of Ludlow; his four cherished grandchildren, Christopher Capistrant and his wife, Sara, James R. Carrier, Hillary S. Balog and her husband, Joseph, and Tiffany S. Bolduc; his three cherished great-grandchildren, Lily Capistrant and Layla and Madyson Balog; his dear sister, Beulah Makuch of Ludlow; and his many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and extended members of the Capistrant and Couture families. He will also be missed by his two feline friends, his dear cats Simba and Cricket. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his dear sister; Shirley Moroschok; and his three dear brothers, Donald, David and Leo “Bobby” Capistrant. His Funeral Services and Burial will be private at the convenience of his family.
