SOUTH HADLEY - Emma M. "Mitzi" Connor, 97, of South Hadley, was Called Safely Home on Wednesday, February 28, 2018. She passed into Eternal Life at her home at Loomis Village in South Hadley surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving friends. She was born in Holyoke on August 14, 1920, a beloved daughter of the late George and Emma (Reed) Connor. She was raised in South Hadley and graduated from South Hadley High School in 1937. She had lived on Newton Street in South Hadley with her late sister and brother-in-law, Mabel and Dr. Joseph Lynch, for many years before moving to Loomis Village in 2014. She was employed as a dispatcher at the former National Blank Book in Holyoke and retired in 1982. She was a founding member of the Local 48 Bookbinder's Union and had served as their past president, secretary and contract negotiator. She was a communicant of Saint Patrick Church in South Hadley Falls. Mitzi loved watching the game show, "Jeopardy" and often had the answers to host Alex Trebek's questions before the contestants did. She leaves her dear nephew, James Connor and his wife, Cynthia, of Cody, WY and their family; her dear great niece, Jackie Watson and her husband, Bill, of Westfield; and her many dear friends including her dear friends and neighbors who also were her caregivers, Pauline and Brian McClaflin of South Hadley and Michael and Michelle Wojtowicz who now live in Ludlow. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by the love of her life, Willard “Will” Allen; her two dear infant brothers, William and George Connor; her dear sister, Mabel Lynch; and her six dear brothers, Frederick Connor, William Connor, II, George Connor, II, and James, Charles and Albert Connor. Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, March 10, 2018 at 9 a.m. at Saint Patrick Church, 30 Main Street, South Hadley Falls, MA 01075. Her Burial will follow the Mass at Saint Rose Cemetery, 226 Granby Road, South Hadley, MA 01075. There are no visiting hours at the St. Pierre-Phaneuf Fairview Chapels, (413-533-3307), 506 Britton Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. For those who prefer and in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in her memory to the Holyoke VNA and Hospice Life Care, 575 Beech Street, Holyoke, MA 01040.
