Steven D'Arcy
2/24/2018

D’Arcy, Steven, of Roslindale, formerly of Needham and Bristol, England passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends on February 24, 2018 after a valiant battle with cancer. Beloved husband of Trixie (Barrass). Devoted father of Tom D’Arcy and his wife Christy of Natick and Sam D’Arcy of Roslindale. Loving grandfather of Alina and Ellis. Brother of Geoff D’Arcy and his wife Po of Sherborn and their daughters Cailin and Alyssa. Loyal friend to many.

Steve was an amazing athlete being selected at school in England for three sports: Bristol Boys Cricket, Rugby and Football (soccer). Steve went on to play for Clifton St. Vincent’s FC, and Brislington FC. In his late teens, he broke through from the Reserve Team to the First Team at Bristol City – in the English Premier League of today. After recovering from injuries, Steve returned into Semi-Pro leagues as a player and manager for Keynsham FC, Clevedon FC, Frome FC and Taunton Football Clubs. Steve won honor after honor, both as player and manager - whatever team he touched turned to gold.

After moving to the states, Steve began his career at Mount Ida as head soccer coach of the Mustangs during the team’s inaugural year in 1989, shaping the culture of a team that went on to win many accolades including local, regional and national championships while performing with the highest level of sportsmanship. Competing coaches knew he was the best in the league and honored him with Coach of the Year awards in 1990, 1994, 1997, 1999. More importantly, Steve welcomed and cared for students from all parts of this nation and the world, becoming their family as he guided them to success in every aspect of their lives. Steve remained an integral part of the Mount Ida community for three decades.

Steve loved watching soccer, traveling and spending time with his family and friends. He loved a good laugh and of course, Liverpool. He was the finest example of a gentleman, always positive, loving and will continue to be an inspiration to all.
