Frances A. (Mikuszewski) Beake

WILBRAHAM – Frances Ann Angela (Mikuszewski) Beake, 76, of Wilbraham was Called Safely Home on Saturday, February 17, 2018. She passed into Eternal Life at the Governor’s Center in Westfield surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family. She was born in Adams, MA on January 11, 1942, the beloved daughter of the late Stanley and Geneva (Kochanik) Mikuszewski. She was raised in Adams and graduated from the former Adams High School. She received her Associate’s Degree from Bay Path Junior College in Longmeadow. Her first job after graduating from Bay Path was with the Ordnance Division of General Electric in Pittsfield. Frances left GE in 1967 to accept the position of Director of Student Activities and Assistant to the Dean of Students at Bay Path. Fran met Xenophon in 1967 while making the senior yearbook portraits at Bay Path and were married on June 14, 1969 at Saint George Greek Orthodox Cathedral and were blessed with over 48 years of happiness together. She held her position at Bay Path until 1973 when she gave birth to a son, Xenophon A. Beake II. Fran returned to Bay Path after a few years and accepted the position of Director of Alumni Placement. A few years later, her husband’s business began to grow, they agreed that her talents and organizational skills would be best served as a partner in the photographic business that continued until about 2010. She was Past President of PPAM, National Award Recipient from PPA, and earned the President’s Medal from PPANE. She was Chair of many committees for PPANE. Frances is a PPA Life Member. Fran also owned a vintage clothing and textile business, “The Barefoot Sandpiper.” This business included participating in antique shows throughout the northeast. Fran was a member of Saint George Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Springfield where she served as the General Chair of the Saint George 100th Anniversary Commemorative Committee. In addition to her loving husband, she also leaves her cherished son, Xenophon A. “Tony” Beake II and his wife, Julie, and her dear cousins, friends, and extended members of the Beake family. She was predeceased by her sister-in-law, Phyllis Beake. Frances will Lie in State on Thursday morning, February 22, 2018 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. followed by a Funeral Service at 11 a.m. at Saint George Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 2320 Main Street, Springfield, MA 01107. Her Burial will follow the Service at Oak Grove Cemetery, 426 Bay Street, Springfield, MA 01109. Her funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Springfield Chapels, (413-737-1177), 7 Chapin Terrace, Springfield, MA 01107. Memorial donations may be made in Fran’s memory to the Ladies Philoptochos or to the Saint George Greek Orthodox Cathedral Building Fund at 22 Saint George Road, Springfield, MA 01104. “May Her Memory Be Eternal”.
