Mr. Richard (“Dick”) Murch, Sr. passed away peacefully on February 9, 2018 in Boston, MA at the age of 80.
Richard is survived by his wife, Christol, his daughter Jennifer Lawlor and her daughter Madison, his son, Richard Murch, Jr. and his wife, Tobi and their children, Harley and Parker, as well as his brother Robert Murch, and his sister Diana Lynch, and 6 nieces and nephews.
Richard was born on August 8th, 1937 in Boston, MA to Harley and Rita Murch. After matriculating from BC High, he graduated from Boston College in 1960 with a dual degree in classics and philosophy, and then went on to achieve his Juris Doctorate, attending BU Law and New England School of Law. After several years in the practice of law, Richard developed his own business, retiring in 2013 as a small business owner.
Richard was a kind, witty, and generous individual who loved people and who could frequently be seen quietly and discreetly helping out the less fortunate among us. He loved politics and the game of baseball, but most of all he loved his role as a family man, and in particular as a grandfather.
Visiting hours in the William J. Gormley Funeral Home, 2055 Centre St., WEST ROXBURY on Monday February 19th from 4-8 PM. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, February 20th at 11 o’clock in St. John Chrysostom Church, 4750 Washington St. in West Roxbury. A brief reception to follow at the church. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Richard’s life. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to St. Vincent de Paul Society at St. John Chrysostom.
