Barbara A. O’Sullivan, 71

Barbara A. (Suomi) O’Sullivan, age 71, of Mansfield, formerly of Roslindale, and Walpole passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 8, 2018 at Wingate at Norton.

Born in Norwood, MA on February 23, 1946, she was a loving daughter of the late Victor J. and Katherine (Barrows) Suomi.

Barbara grew up in Walpole and was a 1964 graduate of Walpole High School. A dedicated homemaker to her adoring family, Barbara had also worked as a nurse’s assistant in West Roxbury and at the Wrentham State School.

Barbara had lived in the Mansfield area for the past twelve years and had also made her home in Middleboro as well. She especially loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Her hobbies included being an avid NASCAR fan, watching Shark Tank on the television, being an avid New England Patriots fan and a longtime friend of Bill W.

Barbara was also a former member of the Hyde Park Eagles Club and actively helped and assisted at the VFW 1018 Boston Police Post.

She is survived by her devoted children John J. O’Sullivan, Jr. and his wife Theresa of Mansfield, Jennine M. O’Sullivan of Middleboro, Julie K. O’Sullivan of Taunton, Kevin M. O’Sullivan of New Bedford and Patrick V. “The Golden Boy” O’Sullivan of South Carolina. She was the dear sister of Martha Callow and her husband Dick of Peaks Island, Maine and the late Victor “Scrappy” Suomi. She is also survived by her cherished grandchildren Michael, Kayla, Kevin, Jr., Angelina, Emma Rose, Laniey, John Paul, Shealynn and Rachael, and the great-grandmother of Kameron. She is also survived by her former husband John J. O’Sullivan, Sr. of Hingham, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Service and burial will be held privately. Visiting hours have been omitted and those wishing may remember Barbara with a donation in her memory to the Greater Boston Aid To The Blind, 1980 Centre St., West Roxbury, MA 02132.

Arrangements are under the care and direction of the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home, 55 North Main St., Mansfield.
