CHICOPEE – Peter E. Guyette, 68, of the Willimansett section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Tuesday, February 6, 2018. He passed into Eternal Life at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston due to complications of a double lung transplant. He was surrounded by the care and comfort of his loving family. He was born in Springfield on March 22, 1949, a beloved son of Yvette M. (Rivest) Guyette of Chicopee and the late Ernest G. Guyette. He was raised in the Aldenville section of Chicopee, graduated from the former Precious Blood High School in Holyoke and had moved to Willimansett in 1972 where he lived the remainder of his life. He furthered his education later in life and received an Associate’s Degree in Computer Sciences from Springfield Technical Community College in Springfield. He served his country in the United States Army Reserves for 26 years with the Third Battalion 35th Infantry and attained the rank of Sergeant First Class. He was employed as a Computer Support Technician at Shriners Hospital for Children in Springfield and had also worked as a Purchasing Agent at Tower Square in Springfield and Nabisco in West Springfield. He was a member and served as Treasurer and Secretary of the 35th Infantry Regiment Cacti Association. During his leisure time, he enjoyed golfing, bowling, vacationing, and going out for dinner. During the early morning hours, he usually could be found enjoying breakfast at Petro's Restaurant in Chicopee. Above all, he loved spending time with his family, his cherished grandchildren and his many friends. Besides his loving mother, he leaves his beloved wife and best friend, Sandra L. (Wilk) Guyette. They were married on September 2, 1972 at the Basilica of Saint Stanislaus Bishop and Martyr in Chicopee and were blessed with over 45 years of happiness together. He also leaves his two loving children, Gregory P. Guyette and his wife, Heather, of Windsor Locks, CT and Laura J. Harper and her husband, Timothy “Timmy”, of Chicopee; his four cherished grandchildren, Abigail and Jack Guyette and twins, Karsyn and Logan Harper; his three dear brothers, Roland Guyette and William Guyette and his wife, Patti, all of Chicopee and Robert Guyette and his wife, Linda, of Tolland; his three dear sisters, Therese Lamoureux, Michelle Guyette and Jamie Guyette, all of Chicopee; his dear sister-in-law, Susan Guyette of Chicopee; and his many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and extended members of the Guyette and Wilk families. In addition to his father, he was also predeceased by his dear brother, Alfred Guyette. His Funeral will be held on Monday morning, February 12, 2018 beginning at the St. Pierre-Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, (funeral home will open at 7:45 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 a.m. at Sainte Rose de Lima Church, 600 Grattan Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. His Committal Service with United States Army Military Honors will follow the Mass at 11 a.m. in the Chapel at the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main Street, Agawam, MA 01001. His family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, February 11, 2018 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. The parking lot and main entrance are located in the rear of the funeral home at 20 Lafayette Street, Chicopee, MA 01020.
