MICALE, Alfonso A. of Winthrop, MA and Norwood, MA died on January 28, 2018, at the age of 94, surrounded by his loving family at the Chelsea Soldiers Home. Born in the West End of Boston on January 26, 1924, the son of Carmelo and Serafina (Saia) Micale. He was predeceased in death by his first wife, Claire M. (Dalton) Micale and 3 brothers and 2 sisters. He is survived by his current wife, Corinne L. (Koopman) Micale and his children: son Edward C. Micale and his wife Denise of Westport, MA, daughter Elaine M. Hoppe and her husband David of Norwood, MA, daughter Joanne C. Micale of Londonderry, NH, and son Alan J. Micale and his wife Margaret of Mansfield, MA. Also survived by 8 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, younger brother Domenic Micale and his wife Mina of Medford, MA. and many nieces, nephews, and grand nieces and nephews. Al spent his entire 40 year career as a mechanical engineer at Stone & Webster Engineering Corp. Proud member of the US Army Air Corp. serving in the China, Burma, and India Theater of operation from 1943 to 1945. Visiting hours are on Wednesday, January 31st. From 5:00 till 8:00 pm at the Maurice W. Kirby Funeral Home 210 Winthrop St. WINTHROP, MA. A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, February 1st. at 10:00am in St. Michael's Chapel on the campus of the Chelsea Soldiers Home, 100 Crest Ave., Chelsea, MA with full military honors. Please go directly to church. Burial is private at Highland Cemetery in Norwood.
