Walter T. Doolin, age 84 passed away January 18th at Cape Cod Hospital after a brief illness. Born in Boston he was raised in Southie and Mattapan and graduated from Hyde Park High School. Walter worked as a Mail Room Supervisor for the New York, New Haven and Hartford Railroad, B.C. Morton and J. Baker. He later worked for C. Walsh Moving and Storage as a dispatcher and in their sales department.
Walter was a resident of Canton for 42 years before retiring to Osterville on Cape Cod. He was a member of the Canton Town Club and the Knights of Columbus Council 2095 before leaving Canton. For many years Walter enjoyed being Santa Claus for The Massachusetts State Police, Children’s Hospital of Boston and various other charitable organizations during the Christmas Season. Walter enjoyed crossword puzzles and walking many golf courses in the Canton area and on Cape Cod collecting lost golf balls. With the hundreds of balls he found, Walter started a little business on the side selling the golf balls he collected. Beloved husband of Jean (Tosi). Father of Sherri Doolin-Benoit of Marstons Mills, Walter F. Doolin and his fiancé Elise Small of Sandown, NH, Kevin B. Doolin and his fiancé Sandi Keough of Walpole, Scott M. Doolin and his wife Lisa of Holliston. Predeceased by his daughter Lorri Gaboury-Frazier formerly of Easton. Survived by his brother-in-law Ernest W. (Skippy) Robery of Plainville. Also survived by 12 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Brother of the late Francis Doolin and Thomas Doolin. Visiting hours at the Dockray & Thomas Funeral Home 455 Washington St. Canton Monday 4-8 pm. Funeral Mass at St. John the Evangelist Church Canton Tuesday morning at 10:30. Burial Private.
