FALL RIVER – Dorvalina T. Raposa, age 91, passed away peacefully on January 16, 2018 at Southpointe Rehab Nursing Center. She was the beloved wife of the late George Raposa. Born in Fall River, she was the daughter of the late John M. and Maria (Bertholde) Tavares. Dorvalina was a lifetime member of AMVETS Auxiliary and a founding member of Somerset AMVETS Auxiliary #72. She currently served as treasurer of the Somerset Auxiliary and was past President on the District and Local level. Dorvalina also held positions on the State level.
Dorvalina is survived by her daughter Patricia Silvia (husband Michael) of Somerset; sister Cecilia Tavares of Somerset; granddaughter Pamela C. Silvia-Biddick (husband Neal); great-grandchildren Declan George Biddick and Eila Mae Biddick; as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sisters Agnes Ferraro and Mary Vieira.
Her funeral will take place from the Manuel Rogers & Sons Funeral Home 1521 N. Main St. Fall River on Friday here at 9 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial St. John of God Church at 10 A.M.
