SWANSEA – Jose C. Medeiros of Swansea passed away on Friday, Dec. 22, 2017 with his loving family by his side. Born in Arrifes, São, Miguel, Açores, he was the son of the late Jose Pavao De Medeiros and the late Maria Conceicão (Pereira) Medeiros. He was also the beloved husband of Connie (Alves) Medeiros. Prior to retiring, Jose worked as a C & C Machine Operator for Metals U.S.A and previously as a First Class Master Welder for Blount Marine.
He was a member of the Steel Workers Union, and a very active parishioner of St. John of God Church. Jose was a 3rd Degree Knight for the Knights of Columbus, Msgr. Augusto Leal Furtado Council No. 12348 and a 4th Degree Knight for the Knights of Columbus, Bishop William Stang Assembly No. 392.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his two children: Anabella A. Medeiros of Fall River and Stephen A. Medeiros of New Jersey; his siblings: Pedro Medeiros of Canada, Maria Jose Silva, Maria Conceicão Viveiros, & Margarida Pereira all of São, Miguel, Açores; several nieces, nephews, and godchildren. He was also the brother of the late Leonilde Soares.
His funeral will take place from the Manuel Rogers & Sons Funeral Home, Inc. 1521 N. Main St. Fall River on Wednesday at 9:00 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. John of God Church, Somerset, at 10:00 A.M. Interment in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Somerset. Calling hours on Tuesday from 4-8 P.M.
