Margarete E. McNeice (Aust) age 92 of Canton passed away at home December 19th. Born in Schlesien, Germany, she was raised and educated in Germany and came to the United States in 1956. She previously lived in Wollaston before moving to Canton 51 years ago. Margarete was an active volunteer for several organizations including Por Christo, SHARE in Canton, My Brother’s Keeper, Carney Hospital Gift Shop, Catholic Charities, various missions of the Jesuits of New England and also was an active parishioner and CCD Teacher at St. Gerard Majella Church in Canton. She was an avid golfer and a member of Wollaston Country Club and Milton Hoosic Club. Margarete loved spending time with her family, entertaining and gardening.
Beloved wife of John A., Jr. Cherished mother of Gabriele S. Shaw and her husband James of Waltham and Margarete A. Portanova of Wrentham. Grandmother of James Shaw, Erika Lucas, Christopher Shaw, Elisa Shaw, Monika Orifice, Jimmy, Michael and Emma Portanova and the late Stephen Shaw. Sister of Charlotte Ripley of VA and the late Alfred Aust. Also survived by 7 great grandchildren. Visiting hours at the Dockray & Thomas Funeral Home 455 Washington St. Canton Thursday (4-8 pm). Funeral mass at St. Gerard Majella Church Canton Friday morning at 10. Burial Knollwood Memorial Park, Canton. It is with heavy hearts the family announces the passing of their loving wife, mother and grandmother and wishes to thank family and friends for their love and support.
