O’MALLEY, Joseph Paul, Sr. M.D., Age 87 of Bethesda, MD, formerly of Jamaica Plain, December 12, 2017. Beloved husband of Elaine M. O’Malley (Corcoran) for 63 years. Loving father of Joseph P., Jr., Stephen, Julie Smith and her husband Randall, Philip, and the late James and David. Grandfather of Trisha Calomino and her husband Michael. Great-grandfather of Claire Calomino. Joseph graduated from Holy Cross College in 1951 and Harvard Medical School in 1956. He worked for the National Institutes of Health as a Commissioned Officer of the U.S. Public Health Service from July 1, 1957 to December 31, 1978. Following that he worked for the American Red Cross until 1992. He then worked for the American Tissue Services of the American Red Cross until his retirement on October 31, 1995. Funeral from the William J. Gormley Funeral Home 2055 Centre St. WEST ROXBURY, Friday, December 29th at 9 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Theresa of Avila Church at 10 o’clock. Visiting hours Thursday, December 28th from 4-7 p.m. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Interment Mt. Benedict Cemetery.
