CHICOPEE – Brian Scott McCollaum, 35, of the Fairview section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 23, 2017. He passed into Eternal Life at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield surrounded by the care and comfort of his loving family. He was born in Holyoke on May 6, 1982, a beloved son of Willie Dodson McCollaum, Jr. and Tina Louise (Leonard) McCollaum of Chicopee. He was raised in Chicopee, graduated in 2001 from Chicopee Comprehensive High School and was a lifelong resident of Chicopee. He was employed as a powder coater for The Metalmen on Montcalm Street in Chicopee. Brian was a sports fanatic and was a diehard Giants fan. He also enjoyed the Red Sox, Celtics and Bruins. During his leisure time, he played and coached Youth Football for the Chicopee Braves. Most of all, he was a “No. 1 Dad” who attended all of the activities of his three loving daughters. Besides his beloved parents, he leaves his three cherished daughters, Lexus A., Alysa L. and Briana L. McCollaum; his dear former wife, Heather A. (Bergeron) McCollaum; his loving paternal grandmother, June McCollaum; his loving sisters and brother, Jennifer L. Fairbanks and her husband, Timothy, Christopher M. McCollaum and his fiancée, Crystal Dunn, Melissa A. McCollaum and her fiancé, Roy Daigneault and Robyn Covington and her husband, Chris; and his many dear nephews, nieces, great niece, uncles, aunts, cousins, numerous friends and extended members of the McCollaum and Leonard families. In addition, he also leaves his best friend and “brother” Bruce Negron. He was predeceased by his loving grandparents, Willie D. McCollaum, Sr., Joseph Leonard and Rita Desroches. His relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Wednesday, November 29, 2017 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. which will be followed by a Prayer Service at 7 p.m. at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. The parking lot and main entrance are located in the rear of the funeral home at 20 Lafayette Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. His family has requested that memorial donations be made in his memory to the Shriners Hospital for Children, Springfield Unit, 516 Carew Street, Springfield, MA 01104.
