Eric William Bodendorf, 79, of Raymond, NH, passed away Monday November 20, 2017 at Portsmouth Regional Hospital in Portsmouth, NH. Eric was born March 5, 1938 in Westfield, MA and was a son of the late Julius Bodendorf, Jr. and Rose Marie (Serlak) Bodendorf. Eric was raised and educated in Westfield, and was a graduate of Westfield High School and the University of Massachusetts with a degree in Electrical Engineering.
Mr. Bodendorf proudly served his country as a member of the U.S. Airforce, during the Vietnam era. He was an engineer and longtime employee of ITEK Optical Systems. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was an avid collector of guns. Eric was a longtime member of American Legion Post 90 of Raymond and will be remembered for his patriotism and love of country.
Members of the family include his three children, five grandchildren and nine great grandchildren, a sister and brother-in-law, of St. Louis, MO, a daughter-in-law, of Raymond, two brothers-in-law & two sisters- in- law, all of Florida. Eric was predeceased by his beloved wife Jacqueline (Burwen) Bodendorf in 2009, also two brothers, Warren & Bruce Bodendorf and a sister, Phyllis.
Calling hours were held on Tuesday, November 28, 2017 from 11am to 1pm in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch Street, Derry, NH. The burial followed in Forest Hill Cemetery, East Derry with military honors.
