Obituary


West Boylston- George F. Martin, 89, formerly of Worcester passed away on Friday, November 17 at UMASS Medical Center - University Campus.

His wife of 40 years, Ann (Gleason) Martin died in 2004. He leaves two sons, Christopher Martin of North Hills, CA and Andrew Martin of Rutland, MA; three grandchildren, Julian, Isabella, and his beloved Brody Martin. A brother, R. Paul Martin of Washington; a sister Jean Thompson of Grosse Point, MI., nieces and nephews, as well as his extended family The Sandbergs and The Haddads. George was a proud Navy Veteran of WWII serving as a Motor Machinist's Mate 3rd Class Petty Officer.

A gifted artist, George was a graduate of George Vespa Art School in Boston. He served as Creative Director for local firms until opening is own advertising agency, G. Frederick Company in 1980 which he successfully ran for 27 years before retiring. George had many interests as a young man and enjoyed fencing, golfing, flying single engine airplanes, hunting, singing and playing several musical instruments, though, it was his passion for drawing and painting that carried through his life. He was a "family first" father and husband and was at his happiest when around his loving family. His family would like to thank the staff at DaVita Dialysis of Grove St Worcester for their care and compassion over the last 10 years.

Visiting Hours are Monday, November 20 from 9:00 to 11:00AM in Fay Brothers Funeral Home, 1 West Boylston Street. A Funeral Mass will follow at 11:30AM in Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, 111 Worcester Street. Entombment will be in Saint John’s Mausoleum.
