Obituary



Julia T. (DeFeudis) Monroe, 92, passed into eternal life on Thursday, October 26 2017 at Christopher House in Worcester, MA. She joins her husband of 51 years, Charles E. Monroe, who died on January 5, 1999.
She is survived by her four sons: Rev. Charles Monroe of Worcester, Leo Monroe and his wife Carlene of Marbehead, Ohio, James Monroe and his wife Barbara of Worcester and Richard Monroe of Worcester as well as her grandson Jacob, step-granddaughter Leslie, and her two daughters, Shay and Lily, her brother-in-law David Gaudet, her cousins John Mancini and Vincent LaPosta and many nieces and nephews.
She was born in Worcester on July 1, 1925, daughter of Pantalaeo and Anna (LaPosta) DeFeudis. She was predeceased by her sisters Alice Palumbo and Ann Gaudet, her brothers-in-law Enrico Palumbo and William Monroe, sister-in-law Mildred Monroe and nephew Paul Palumbo.
Julia worked for more than 25 years as bookkeeper/secretary at the former Academy of the Sacred Heart and then Worcester Central Catholic Elementary School. She was a member of the former St. Ann’s Parish, Our Lady of Mt. Carmel-St. Ann Parish and Our Lady of the Angels Parish.
Her family was always her primary concern. She enjoyed reading, knitting and crocheting and doing daily puzzles in the newspaper. She reveled in the memories of her trips to Italy, Ireland and Hawaii.
Her family wishes to thank her goddaughter Julie (Carlantuono) D’Andrea for her faithful visits over the years and the staffs at Christopher Heights and Christopher House for their attentive care these past four years and the wonderful support of Notre Dame Hospice at the end of her life.

Her funeral Mass will be celebrated by her son at Our Lady of the Angels Church, 1222 Main Street, Worcester on Tuesday, October 31 at 10:00 am. Burial will follow in St. John Cemetery, Worcester. Calling hours will be held at Callahan Fay Caswell Funeral Home, Myrtle Street, Worcester from 4:00 to 7:00 pm on Monday, October 30th. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Building Fund of Our Lady of the Angels Parish, 1222 Main Street, Worcester, MA 01603.
