Patricia “Patty” Murphy Holbrook, age 61, of West Roxbury, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 21, 2017, after an eighteen-month battle with cancer. She was at her home in West Roxbury. Patty grew up Oak Square, Brighton. She is survived by her husband, William, son, John and daughter, Julie, as well as countless aunts, uncles, cousins, extended-family and friends. Patty proudly taught in the Boston Public Schools for nearly 35 years, touching the lives of thousands of children from across the city. She also enjoyed summers at Lake Winnipesaukee in New Hampshire. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Friday, October 27, 3-8 p.m. in the Gormley Funeral Home at 2055 Centre Street in West Roxbury. Relatives and friends will gather at the funeral home at 9 a.m. Saturday, October 28, prior to the Funeral Mass at St. Theresa of Avila Church at 10 a.m., located directly across the street at 2078 Centre Street in West Roxbury. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Sarcoma Foundation of America.
