John R. and Shirley A. (Bryan) Rosenhoover, Jr.

CHICOPEE – John R. Rosenhoover, Jr., age 89, was Called Safely Home on Thursday, October 12, 2017, six months following the passing of his beloved wife, Shirley A. (Bryan) Rosenhoover, age 84, who was Called Home on Wednesday, April 12, 2017. They lived for many years on Mandalay Road in the Fairview section of Chicopee. John and Shirley were both born in Altoona, PA on July 9, 1928 and on August 20, 1932. They were married on August 8, 1951 at Sacred Heart Church in Altoona, PA and were blessed with over 65 years of happiness together. John served his country during the Korean War in the United States Army and attained the rank of Captain. He received the Korean Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal and the United Nations Service Medal. John was employed for many years as a teacher at the former Holyoke Trade High School. They were communicants of Saint Anne Church in Chicopee. They leave their three loving daughters, Karen R. Lawson of Northampton, Faith R. Brouillard and her husband, Rheo, of Hampton, CT, and Gail L. Turgeon and her husband, Denis, of Springfield; their four cherished grandchildren, Kristi Flitcraft and her husband, Daryl, Bryan Brouillard and his wife, Karin, Thomas Brouillard and his wife, Cristin, and Steven Turgeon and his wife, MaryJo; and their eight cherished great-grandchildren, Brooke, Holden, Piper and Alexis Flitcraft, Jasmine, Julissa and Bijoux Brouillard, and Christian Turgeon. In addition, Shirley leaves her dear sister, Mary Bettwy of Altoona, PA; and together they leave many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and extended members of the Rosenhoover and Bryan families. They were predeceased by their loving son-in-law, Robert Lawson who was Called Home on June 12, 2015; and Shirley was predeceased by her dear brothers, Jack and Charles Bryan. Their Funeral Mass will be held on Monday morning, October 23, 2017 at 11 a.m. at Saint Anne Church, 30 College Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. The Rite of Committal for both along with United States Army Military Honors for John will follow the Mass at 1 p.m. in the Chapel at the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main Street, Agawam, MA 01001.
