Emily R. Sanson, age 84 of Dighton, passed away on October 11, 2017 at the Dighton Care & Rehabilitation Center.
Emily was born in Dighton, a daughter of the late Antone and Mary (Rogers) Sanson.
Miss. Sanson was a lifelong resident of Dighton. Emily’s philosophy in life was to be kind to everyone. Her fondest memories were summers packaging produce on her father’s farm on Elm St, and taking the produce with her late brother Louis to the market in Boston. She loved arts and crafts, Line dancing, traveling to Europe, but most of all being a school teacher.
Emily was a 1955 graduate of Bridgewater State College and In 1988 earned her Masters Degree in education. She was a member of Alpha Delta Kappa Sorority and served as president of the woman’s Guild at the former Saint Peter’s Church in Dighton, she was a member of MA Teachers Assoc., National Education Assoc., a life member of RI Education Assoc., Early Childhood Education and International Reading Assoc.
In 1951 Miss. Sanson was teaching at Dighton High, from 1955-58 Miss. Sanson taught grade 3 in Freetown, and in 1988 in Barrington RI Schools.
Emily is survived by her special friend and caretaker Jenny Meneses and a cousin Virgina Sanson. She was the sister of the late Louis A. Sanson who passed in August of 2016.
Emily’s funeral service will be held on Monday, October 16, 2017 at 12 noon in the Silva Funeral Home 80 Broadway (at Saint Mary’s Square) Taunton.
Interment will follow in Saint Patrick Cemetery in Somerset.
