Judy A. (Sawyer) LaFlure

ATHOL, NY – Judy A. (Sawyer) LaFlure, 64, of Athol, NY, and a longtime resident of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Friday, September 1, 2017 after a courageous battle with cancer. She passed into Eternal Life at her home surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family. She was born in Holyoke on March 8, 1953, a beloved daughter of the late Francis P. Sawyer who was Called Home on February 2, 2004 and Mary L. (Rotchford) Sawyer who was Called Home on December 3, 2011. She was raised in the Fairview section of Chicopee, graduated in 1971 from Chicopee Comprehensive High School and in 1975, she received her Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Westfield State College. She was a teacher at the former Mount Carmel Elementary School in the Willimansett section of Chicopee. Judy’s passion was her horses and her cats. She spent much of her time assisting her husband, Spencer, with his business, Natural Balance Horse Dentistry and enjoyed her time with him on their ranch in New York. She leaves her beloved husband and best friend, Spencer LaFlure. They were married on October 14, 1989 in Lake George, NY and were blessed with over 27 years of happiness together. She also leaves her loving sister, Kathleen A. “Kathy” Dziok and her husband, Ray, of Chicopee; her cherished nephew, Joseph “Joey” Dziok and his wife, Nell, and their daughter, Sofia, of Birmingham, AL; her two cherished nieces, Samantha Dziok and Christiana Jamroz, both of Chicopee; her dear aunt, Shirley Sawyer of Chicopee; and her many cousins, friends and extended members of the LaFlure, Sawyer and Rotchford families. In addition to her beloved parents, she was also predeceased by her dear maternal grandparents, Joseph B. and Margaret F. (Carroll) Rotchford; paternal grandparents, Alfred W. and Euphrasia (Lussier) Sawyer; and her many dear uncles and aunts. A Memorial Mass for Judy will be celebrated on Saturday morning, October 14, 2017 at 8 a.m. at the Basilica of Saint Stanislaus Bishop and Martyr, 570 Front Street, Chicopee, MA 01013. There are no visiting hours at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Fairview Chapels, (413-533-3307), 506 Britton Street, Chicopee, MA 01020.
