Obituary

Mr. Andre Defayy was born in Port-au-Prince Haiti on November 30, 1927. THe son of the late Fernand and Lilia (Turenne) Defayy. IN a small family of four, he only had one sister and two brothers. At a very young age he lost his mother which prevents him from using all his potentials and developed his talents., as a young man in "Bas-peu-de-chose" areas Port-au-Prince, where he grew up. He used his dexterities to acquire many employments with several well known enterprises of the metropolitan area of Port-au-Prince.
He met Phinose Laurore in 1966, he married her two years later. From this marriage was born five children: Julienne, Josette, Gerard, Juna, and Claude. Immediately after the children were born, he moved to the US in 1983, to join his sister. He established himself in the Boston area in the state of Massachusetts. He was a very hard worker, and was very much liked by everyone he met on his daily routine. He was a quiet person but jovial, he would open up to anyone if he finds that person is worthy of his friendship. By working two jobs he managed to reunite with his family within three yearsin the U.S. It was a journey to accumulate enough money to bring all six members of his family to the U.S. at once..
He was a great supporter of "Violete Athletique Club" a soccer team of the city where he grew up. Sespite Andre did not speak English fluently, he was a fervent Basketball follower. He knew all players of the N.B.A. by name and face; he also knew the teams' uniform and which player was traded from one team to another. Although he became blind in the last few years of his life, it didn't stop him from knowing the in-and-out of every individual team.
After all these years in the U.S. he stayed connected to the homeland and was able to tell anyone in detail the views of all politicians, their actions and whether they would be a good fit for his beloved country.
He was very proud of his children and will not be shy to present his lovely daughters and sons to anyone. Andre left this earth to join the Almighty on September 29th 2017. He left behind his five children, multiple grand-children, and one great-grandchild.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Saturday morning October 7th at 10 am in Saint Angela's Church, 1548 Blue Hill Ave., Mattapan.
