Obituary

Bruce A. Bradley, 1942 - 2017
Vta Co. Assist. Registrar of Voters, Retired
On Tuesday, October 3rd, Bruce went to be with The Lord following a long and difficult battle with various medical conditions. His family was in attendance providing for his last wishes. Bruce was a trans-plant from Connecticut to California in 1964, coming here never to leave. Ventura was home from January 1976 to present.
Though a sports fan all his life, as an alumni his focus centered on being a UCONN HUSKIES Women’s Basketball fanatic. He started military service with ROTC in college, followed by 6 year as a Captain in the Air Force which brought him to California. The Eastern Sierras called to him regularly, satisfying his desire to be in the grandeur of rugged mountains and the never ending trails of Yosemite Valley National Park.
He had a great love for the people and places of Jordan and Israel. In preparation for better understanding Middle Eastern culture, he read the Qur’an and other studies. Completing his bucket list he was able to travel to Jordan and Israel on 6 mission trips, making several good travel friends. Being baptized in the Jordan River, visiting Petra and Wadi Rum were additional checks off his bucket list.
An avid reader with a photographic memory, he read the Bible cover to cover and studied it continuously. He also enjoyed completing crossword puzzles in ink without error.
Bruce worked for South Coast Food Pantry for about 8 years, enjoying a new audience for his humor and the opportunity to help others.
Main Aisle Usher was his Sunday morning station, with a lollipop gift for those in need of an extra bit of cheer. Making people laugh was Bruce’s favorite activity. He was able to skillfully weave a story into a conversation, often leading others to wonder if the stories were true or a fictitious joke.
He was born to Walter and Ruth Bradley. As husband, father, papa, and brother, he is survived by: his devoted wife of 48 years, Misty, their daughter Ginger (Richard) Paschal, and 3 grandchildren, Kristin (James) Molenaar, Dylan (Alex) Rader, and Cameron Rader. Their missionary children are Aaron, Rebecca, and Isaiah Kajumba. And his younger, East Coast brother, Wayne (Barbara) Bradley.
Public celebration service to be held at South Coast Fellowship, 4050 Market Street in Ventura, CA 93003 on Saturday, October 7, 2017 at 10am.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Missionary Work inJordan where Bruce’s heart is, care of South Coast Fellowship.
