Passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Sept. 26, 2017. Matthew J. Cocchiarella was born in St. Paul, MN on March 19, 1934. Matt was the 6th child in a family of 9 children. Matt graduated from Johnson High School in 1952, enlisted in the Marines, and was a Korean War Veteran. Matt married Elizabeth Dailey on April 19, 1958. He was employed at Amoco for 30 years and retired from 3M. Matt was a devoted husband and father and was most happy when gathered with his family. He had a pleasant sense of humor, was a hard worker, and his family always came first. Matt was known as the Dad and Papa who could soothe a crying baby like no one else. Preceded in death by siblings Frank, Mariano, Luigi, Joseph, Lawrence, & James. Survived by loving wife Elizabeth; children Renee (Dave), Julie, Brian (Laura) & Karen (Bob); grandchildren Sarah, Emily, Jenelle, Tyrus, Elizabeth, Lauren & Matthew; great granddaughter Bailey; siblings Angelina & Donald. Private family burial to be held at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
