Obituary



WEST BOYLSTON – On September 7, 2017, at the age of 92, Albert Monroe died peacefully at home.

Born and raised in Clinton Massachusetts, Albert Averill Monroe was the youngest of three children of the late Stanley J. and Effie L. (Averill) Monroe. Al was predeceased by his beloved wife, Pauline (Sangster) Monroe in 2015. He was also predeceased by his sister, Betty (Monroe) Milewski. Al is survived by his sister Marjory (Monroe) Emmons, his children Paul A. Monroe and his wife, Cindy of Pocassett, MA, Richard C. Monroe and his wife, Ellie of Dracut, MA, and Jane (Monroe) Giuffrida and her husband, Phil of Fallston, MD. Al was also the cherished Papa to seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

Al graduated from Clinton High School in 1942 and immediately enlisted in the US Navy. His first duty was aboard the USS Canberra in the Pacific. Al also served aboard the USS Johnston during the Korean conflict. In 1958, Al and his family moved to West Boylston. Al worked at ITT Suprenant as a wire extruder for over 30 years, retiring in 1987. Al enjoyed spending time with his family, gardening, bird watching, woodworking, and spending summers at Salt Aire in York Beach, Maine.

A private funeral service will be celebrated on Monday, September 11 at the Fay Brothers Funeral Home, 1 West Boylston St., West Boylston. Burial with military honors will be in Mount Vernon Cemetery, West Boylston.
