Obituary

SPENCER-Kathleen A. Donahue, 67, passed away on September 6, 2017 at her home with her family by her side after a courageous battle with lung disease. She was born in Worcester on April 20, 1950 to Catherine (Leary) and Henry Martin.

Kathleen graduated from the Ascension High School and Worcester City Hospital School of Nursing. She was a proud member of the Massachusetts Nursing Association. She devoted her life to being the best nurse that she could be. She would often say that if she had to do it all over again, that she would be a nurse.

Kathleen moved to Spencer in 1976 and raised her three children. She often referred to this as the best job she could ever have. Kathleen leaves a son Robert of Spencer, a daughter Jennifer Bokis and husband Michael of North Brookfield, and a son Seamus of Spencer. Her legacy is her five grandchildren: Brenden, Seamus Jr. (Ma’s boys), Nolan, Michael, and of, course, Megan Kathleen. She loved them all fiercely and enjoyed attending their sports activities and school events. She also loved treating each of them to an ice cream cone or two each and every time they visited.

Kathleen also leaves a sister Joellen Farley and her husband Jack of North Truro. She was predeceased by her brother Henry Martin. She will be remembered warmly by her special “second sister”, Ann MacGillivray of Sutton, and her niece and nephews, as well as her many friends.

She enjoyed reading, knitting, cooking, and sharing recipes with family and friends. Kathy also enjoyed her summer vacations in Truro and Hampton Beach. She was proud of her Irish heritage and visited Ireland twice with her family. While there she visited her ancestral village.

Relatives and friends are invited to honor and celebrate her life by gathering on Sunday, September 10th, from 2 to 5 pm at CALLAHAN, FAY & CASWELL Funeral Home, 61 Myrtle Street, Worcester, MA. Funeral Mass will be held Monday, September 11th at 11:00 am at St. John’s Church, 44 Temple Street, Worcester, MA 01604. Burial will be private and held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. John's Church Food Pantry.
