Ruth A. Lambert-Berger, 98

Ruth A. (Trohan) Lambert-Berger, age 98, of Mansfield, formerly of Westlake, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 3, 2017 at Wingate of Norton. She was the beloved wife of the late Roy N. Berger and the late Donald W. Lambert.
Born in Cleveland, Ohio on July 14, 1919, she was a loving daughter of the late John and Agnes (Miller) Trohan.
Ruth grew up on West 48th St., near Train and Clark Ave. in Cleveland, Ohio. She was educated in Cleveland schools and was a graduate of West Tech High School.
A dedicated homemaker to her adoring family, Ruth had also worked as a piece maker at National Carbon in Ohio. She had made her home in Mansfield, MA for the past six years and was a former longtime resident of Westlake Ohio, where she had moved to in 1954 and where she also raised her three children.
Ruth’s family was the focal point of her long-lived life. When younger, she served as a caregiver to her mother Agnes and to her aunt May. Her favorite time of the year was the holidays, especially those that fell in the fall and winter seasons. She would always dress up for Halloween and along with her sister-in-law Julie, would bake over 100 dozen cookies to be distributed as gifts in tin cans for Christmas.
Ruth was the best friend, cook, cake decorator, entertainer, and party planner to everyone. She will be fondly remembered for her famous Rosettes and Kuchen. On Thursdays, along with close friends, she would attend garage sales and always surprise her family with a new knick-knack when she returned home.
Since living in Mansfield, she attended St. Mary’s Church and was so blessed to be living closer to her daughter and granddaughter. She had a special place in her heart for animals, which included fond memories of “Taffy the dog” and her parakeets named “Chipper”. Ruth also enjoyed the simple pleasures of a good cup of decaffeinated coffee, a McDonald’s hamburger with ketchup and her New England favorite was clam chowder.
She is survived by her devoted children Beverly R. Lach of Mansfield, Kenneth Lambert of Ohio and Terry Logan of North Carolina. She was the cherished grandmother of Michelle Lach, Tyson Lambert, Sean Logan and Vera Logan. She was the dear sister of the late Albert Trohan and John Trohan, and is also survived by her great grandchildren, as well as generations of nieces and nephews.
Her funeral Mass, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be celebrated on Friday, September 8th at 11:00 A.M. in St. Mary’s Church, 330 Pratt St. (Route 106) Mansfield. Entombment will take place at Sunset Memorial Park in North Olmsted, Ohio.
Visiting hours are omitted and in lieu of flowers, Ruth’s family has requested that donations in her memory be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 309 Waverley Oaks Road, Waltham, MA 02452.
