Obituary

REOHR Louise Aged 46, died on August 25, 2017. Born in London, England on October 7,1970, Louise studied history at Cambridge University in England, where she met her husband Chris. They were married in 1998, and Louise was diagnosed with cancer in 2000. They moved to the Boston area in 2001 and to Dedham in 2007, where she was active in the community, founding the Dedham Farmers Market in 2008. Louise was an attorney at Bello Welsh, an employment law firm that generously looked after her and her family even after her disease made it impossible for her to work.

Louise and Chris raised 2 children. Her youngest daughter Cecily died two years ago from brain cancer. Louise was a remarkable mother to both her girls during this difficult time.

Friends tell stories of Louise hiking up Wilson Mountain in the middle of snow storm or planting vegetables as soon as the soil softened in the spring. She found joy in cooking, gardening and a good debate. She was an insatiable reader. She laughed easily and often. She exuded warmth, kindness and curiosity. She loved to sail.

Louise died peacefully surrounded by her family. She is survived by her husband Chris and daughter Octavia, her mother and step-father Diana and David Rowland, father Simon Matthews, sister Charlotte Coory, brother Philip Matthews, step-brother Mark Rowland, as well as by many dear friends and family members. A funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, August 29 at 11 a.m. at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Wellesley.

Throughout her long illness, she received outstanding care from many amazing doctors, nurses, and other caregivers, and the Reohrs would like to express their gratitude to them and to all who work in these professions. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory can be made to Tufts Medical Center to support home-based palliative care for children and adults in the Boston-area. Please make check out to "Tufts Medical Center", reference "In memory of Louise Reohr" and send to Tufts Medical Center Development Office, 800 Washington Street, #231, Boston, MA 02111).
