Brian Patrick McDevitt

Brian Patrick McDevitt
The world is a quieter place without the booming, heartfelt laugh of Brian “Pat” McDevitt, beloved son, brother, brother-in-law, cousin and uncle. With a strong bond to his ancestral home in Glenkeragh, Co. Donegal, Brian was a passionate supporter of the Boston Gaelic Athletics Association and member of the Irish Cultural Center. Brian’s bellowing cry of “Up Notre Dame!” would frequently echo across the Canton pitch for all to hear. Brian was also the self-proclaimed best card player of “25” in all of New England and the Wolftones biggest fan. A former soccer star at Swampscott High School, Brian earned an engineering degree from Wentworth Institute of Technology. If there was ever a more proud Wentworth alum, he has yet to be identified. Brian left us all far too soon, but his kind soul will be remembered by all who knew him. Brian is survived by his parents, Patrick and Phyllis of Brookline, his “Irish-twin sister” Joanne (Burke) of Boston, and brother James (Jamie) of London, England. Brian is also cousin to all the McDaids, McHughs and Kellys of “the Glen” and the Moloneys of Loughrea, Co. Galway.
The McDevitts will be receiving visitors at Gormley Funeral Services, 2055 Centre Street, West Roxbury, MA on Friday, August 25 from 5PM to 8PM. A Mass in Brian’s honor will be held at Glenswilly Church, Co. Donegal, Ireland on Monday, August 28. In lieu of flowers, donations in Brian's memory may be made to the Irish Cultural Centre of New England, 200 New Boston Drive, Canton, MA 02021 Ph: 781-821-8291
