Obituary



WORCESTER-Helen Yvonne (Rivers) Plouffe, age 96, of Worcester, MA passed away peacefully at Holy Trinity Nursing Home on August 22, 2017.

Helen was born on January 26, 1921 in Worcester where she spent her entire life. Helen married the love of her life, Wallace Plouffe in 1940 and together they had six children. She worked and volunteered for many years caring for babies and young children, most notably for Catholic Charities of Worcester. Over the course of her life, she was a parishioner of St. Peter’s Church, St. John’s Church and St. Joan of Arc. Helen was devoted to her family and loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. She also enjoyed the company of her many friends, especially over a game of bingo even into her days at Holy Trinity.

Helen was predeceased by her parents, Mary and Joseph Rivers; her loving husband, Wallace; son Jackie; daughter Donna (Moores); and siblings Dorothy (Robbins), Gertrude (Dufresne), Fred and Andrew.

She leaves behind her daughter, Carol and her husband Dan O’Sullivan of Clinton, and sons and daughters-in-law, Wallace and Donna Plouffe of North Brookfield; Michael and Barbara Plouffe of Brookfield; as well as son Timothy and longtime companion Wendy Kopka of Warwick, RI. She also leaves grandchildren, Richie, John, Tom, and Sandra Moores; Dan O’Sullivan and sister Megan O’Leary; Chris and Timmy Plouffe and their sister Lisa Barkowski; Michael, Brian and Joe Plouffe; Nicole, Stephanie and Timmy Plouffe and their sister Jennifer Farland. She also leaves 26 great grandchildren, 5 great-great grandchildren, along with dozens of nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to extend its deepest gratitude to the caretakers of Holy Trinity Nursing Home for the loving care they provided to Helen over the past seven years.

The funeral will be held on Friday, August 25 at 11am at St. John’s Church, 40 Temple Street in Worcester. Burial will follow at Notre Dame Cemetery. Calling hours will be held before the Mass from 9:00 until 10:30am at CALLAHAN FAY & CASWELL Funeral Home at 61 Myrtle Street in Worcester
