Obituary

RICHARDS Robert B., 87, of Norwood (formerly of Watertown) passed peacefully on Sunday, August 13, 2017. Bob is survived by Joanne his wife of nearly 62 years. Adored father of Bob Richards Jr. (Toni) of Dover, Michelle Cooney (Alan) of Watertown, Suzanne Costello (John) of Dennis and Jennifer Getchell (Kurt) of Newton. Dear grandfather to nine grandchildren Josh, Brendan and Jake Richards, Michael and John Robert Costello and Kelsey, Robert, Max and Carter Getchell. He was always quick to share that his family was his greatest accomplishment.

Bob, the son of Harry and Helen Richards, graduated from Watertown High School, Class of 1947. He was a proud member of the Marines and served during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged with the ranks of Expert Marksman and Sargeant. He received his bachelor's degree in education from Fitchburg State College. He also received his Masters of Education from Bridgewater State College. Bob was a gifted and dedicated teacher who taught in the Norwood and Newton school districts until his retirement.

Bob was a natural athlete who excelled in baseball, hockey, golf and tennis. He was a revered coach at Norwood High, Xaverian and Noble and Greenough schools.

Bob was a devoted husband and father and provided his family with love, faith and laughter. He will be dearly missed by all who loved and knew him.

Funeral from the George F. Doherty & Sons, Wilson-Cannon Funeral Home 456 High St. DEDHAM Thursday, August 17th at 8am. Followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Mary Church, 25 Avery St. Dedham at 9am.
