Marcus Collins

Marcus Andrew Collins entered into rest on August 7, 2017 in Prosser. He was born on January 2, 1936 in Spencerville, Oklahoma to Fletcher and Corrine Collins. At the age of 9, the family moved to Prosser where he attended Prosser schools and graduated in 1956. Marc married Norma Joanne Hofstad Redd on December 16, 1957 in Prosser. He worked as a mechanic most of his life at auto dealerships. In 1966, he bought the Atlantic Richfield Gas Station which then became Marc’s Arco and eventually, Collins Service. Marc employed many young men of Prosser along with his brother, Jack. He retired in 2007 to spend time with his family and friends and to complete some long awaited projects around the family home.

Marc enjoyed fishing, gardening and playing cribbage. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a member of the Eagles, VFW and Elks.

Marc was preceded in death by his son, Robert Henry Redd Collins; grandson, Marcus Robert Collins; sisters, Freda Nickerson and Von Hurd; and brothers, Paul Collins, Phillip Collins and Jack Collins. He is survived by his wife of sixty years, Norma; daughters, Kathy (Ron) Palmer of Kalama, Washington, Jeanie (Dennis) Whittington of Saint Helens, Oregon, and Nancy (Kenneth) Cabbage and Patti (Rayburn) Borden of Prosser; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; siblings, Loretta Allison of Prosser and LaVerne Gregory and Bob Collins, both of Arizona; numerous nieces and nephews; and many friends.

A graveside service will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, August 11, 2017 at the Prosser Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to a favorite charity
