Obituary

WORCESTER – Beverly (Howe) Osborn died on Monday, August 7, 2017 at Oriol/Holden Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Center. She was born April 30, 1925 in Worcester, daughter of Jerome W. Howe and Helen C. Howe. She was predeceased by her brother Jerome W. Howe, Jr.

She leaves a son, Stephen Osborn and his wife Kristina of Simsbury, CT; a daughter, Leolyn Osborn of Worcester; two grandsons, Peter Osborn (Christine Chadwick) of Boxford MA; and Jeremy Osborn (Retta Leaphart) of Helena MT; and three great-grandchildren, Hamish, Josephine, and Isla Osborn.

Beverly was a graduate of Wellesley College, Clark University, and Worcester State College. Following a career teaching high school English, she was a librarian in the Worcester schools and also at the Worcester Historical Society. A lifelong resident and student of Worcester history, she authored “In and About Worcester – A Guidebook” for the city’s Bicentennial Commission in 1976. She was an active member of United Congregational Church, the Hall Club, and Dickens Fellowship, and loved music, gardening, and outdoor sports.

The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Oriol for the skilled and loving care that sustained Beverly during her final years.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday August 16 in Merriman Chapel at United Congregational Church, 6 Institute Road. Private burial will be in Rural Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to United Congregational Church, 6 Institute Road, Worcester, MA 01609.
