Theodore J. "Teddy" Stroumbos

SPRINGFIELD – Theodore J. “Teddy” Stroumbos, 66, of the Sixteen Acres section of Springfield, was Called Safely Home on Sunday, August 6, 2017. He passed into Eternal Life at his home surrounded by all the memories he loved and cherished. He was born in Lowell, Massachusetts on October 15, 1950, a beloved son of Rita E. (Duffy) Stroumbos of Chicopee and the late James Theodore “Jay” Stroumbos who was Called Home on December 16, 2002. He was raised in the Fairview section of Chicopee, graduated from Chicopee Comprehensive High School and lived in Chicopee before moving to Springfield many years ago. He served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War and attained the rank of Parachute Rigger Petty Officer Third Class. Following his military service, he returned to the area and was later employed by the United States Postal Service at the Bulk Mail Center on Fiberloid Street in the Indian Orchard section of Springfield. Besides his beloved mother, he leaves his loving brother, Duff J. Stroumbos and his wife, Kim, of Denver, CO; his loving sister, Mary R. “Gina” Pickard and her husband, Kenneth, of Palmer; his cherished nieces and nephew, Tina, Theresa, Rita, Jill, Tara and Matthew; his wife, Kathryn N. (Stark) Stroumbos of Springfield; and his many dear uncles, aunts, cousins, friends and extended members of the Stroumbos and Duffy families. In addition to his father, he was also predeceased by his loving brother, James J. “Jimmy” Stroumbos. His funeral will be held on Wednesday morning, August 16, 2017 beginning at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Fairview Chapels, (413-533-3307), 506 Britton Street, Chicopee, MA 01020 (funeral home will open at 9:30 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in Saint Anne Church, 30 College Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. His Committal Service with United States Navy Military Honors will follow the Mass at 1 p.m. in the Chapel at the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main Street, Agawam, MA 01001. His family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday morning, August 16, 2017 from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. before the Mass. The parking lot is located in the rear of the funeral home.
