Kevin Shea
7/24/2017

Kevin Shea was born in Waterbury, Connecticut on August 16, 1955. As a kid, his love for all things music and baseball took root. After graduating from Holy Cross High School in 1973, he made his way to The University of Connecticut, earning a Bachelor’s Degree in English Literature in December of 1978. Soon after graduation, Kevin moved to Boston. While looking for a teaching job, he found his way to New World Bank, and began a job that would soon blossom into a career, providing advertising and marketing for financial services. Before leaving New World, he met his wife Susan, and in 1986, after two and a half years of witty banter, verbal jabs and countless perfect dates, the two were married. That same year, he made the move to BayBank, where he took his writing skills to a whole new level, working on several initiatives that included breakthrough student banking and ATM advertising campaigns. After receiving his MBA from Northeastern in 1993, Kevin not only set out to start his own business, but he and Susan were expecting their first, and only child. On May 4, 1994, Connor arrived to complete the family, right around the same time that Kevin’s business, Effectively Efficient Communications, was born as well. Of all the roles, jobs, clients and students that Kevin had, none came more naturally to him than the role of father (Connor was truly his greatest accomplishment) – followed closely by husband, brother, son, friend, and neighbor. Over the last 20+ years taught at universities across the country, including Northeastern, Wentworth, UCal Berkeley, and in local community programs. He was the director of sponsorship and marketing for Boston Harborfest for over ten years, bringing a number of events, vendors, and music acts to Boston’s City Hall Plaza over the Fourth of July. He enjoyed volunteering regularly at St. Brendan Parish, especially since his wife demanded that he enjoy it. In spite of the fact that he was a diehard Yankee’s fan, he loved everything about the city he called home, especially his neighborhood of Dorchester – where, much like where he grew up, friendships last a lifetime, and your neighbors are your extended family. He loved his Cape Cod home in Eastham, and the chance to do nothing but sit on the beach and read, occasionally inserting his caustic sense of humor in the “circle” of conversation. Diagnosed just over a year ago, Kevin brought his signature sense of wit, warmth and wisdom to every interaction and appointment. He will be missed by all. Please join us as we celebrate his life during the visiting hours of 4-8pm on Tuesday, August 1st, followed by his funeral mass on August 2, 10:00am at St. Brendan Parish in Dorchester.
