Donald E. Hughes 80, of Natick died Sunday July 9, 2017 at the Mary Ann Morse Nursing Home in Natick.
He was the beloved husband of Susan (Allen) Hughes.
Born in Natick and a lifelong resident he was the devoted son of the late Walter J. and Margaret H. (Peterson) Hughes.
Mr. Hughes was a Realtor in the Natick area for over 40 years owning and operating Hughes and Hughes Realty Company of South Natick.
A true “Natickite” he proudly served on numerous Boards in Natick Town Government for many years, his experience and wise council was highly regarded and sought by generations in the Natick business community.
He enjoyed golf, working on his Classic car collection, and was a member of the Natick Elks.
Mr. Hughes was a graduate of Suffolk Law School in 1970, Harvard University Class of 1960, Cheshire Academy in 1956 and Natick High School class of 1955.
He was a Veteran of the United States Army serving as a Lieutenant in Military Intelligence.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two children Robert Swartz of Burlington CT, Tracey Orciuch and her husband Joseph of Bourne, grandchildren Andrew and Amanda Orciuch and nephews Kevin Hughes of Atlanta GA, and Michael Hughes of Weston. He was also the brother of the late Jack Hughes.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral Service on Friday July 14 at 12:00 Noon in the John Everett and Sons Funeral Home 4 Park Street, at Natick Common. Burial will follow in Glenwood Cemetery, South Natick.
Visiting hours are Thursday from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M.
