Dr. John J. McNamara age 77, of Brockton died on July 4th after a long battle with Alzheimer’s Disease. He leaves his wife of 52 years Florence (Goldmann) McNamara and four daughters Mona Burns and her husband John, Rebecca Schmidt and her husband Olaf, Susan Wood and her husband Joshua and Katherine Feodoroff and her husband Bruce and 10 grandchildren. He was the brother of Ann Louise Sullivan and Alice Farrington.
John was born and raised in Dorchester and was a graduate of Boston High School in 1957, Boston College in 1961 and Harvard Medical School in 1965.He was a longtime resident and pediatrician in Brockton.
In his free time, John loved to run and was a voracious reader.
Visiting hours will be held in the Conley Funeral Home 138 Belmont St. (Rte. 123) Brockton on Friday 4-7pm. A procession will gather at the funeral home on Saturday at 8am for a funeral Mass in Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Brockton at 9 am. Burial will be at a later date.
