John M. Medeiros (Johnny), age 54, passed away on July 5, 2017 at Life Care Center Raynham after a long illness.
Johnny was born in Taunton, the son of Maria Fatima (Casemeiro) Carreiro and the late John B. Medeiros.
Johnny was the apple of the eye of his mother Fatima; always referring to him as “my Johnny”. He was her only child and the bond they had was unlike any other; always there for each other.
Besides his mother Fatima, John is survived by several aunts and uncles and very close cousins who meant the world to him. He is also survived by his five nieces and nephews who brought so much joy into his life; he was their “Uncle Johnny”. He was the Godfather of Adam Medeiros and Veronica Chaves. He also leaves his best friends that were like his brothers ; Tony Chaves, Anthony Chaves, Nicholas Chaves, Danny Santos, Joe Santos, Scott Mclarren, Jimmy DaCosta and Richie Medeiros.
Johnny attended Taunton High School. Most recently he worked as a warehouse manager for Lion Labels in Easton, MA.
He was a skilled carpenter, enjoyed hunting, was an avid fisherman, loved backyard farming and anything that involved being outdoors. He was also a huge fan of birds of prey, especially red tail hawks and falcons. He also enjoyed shooting; was a member of the NRA and the Taunton Rifle & Pistol Club of Taunton. Last but not least, he enjoyed his mother’s home cooking.
Whether you knew Johnny for a long time or just met him; you knew right away he was one of a kind because of his big heart, his unselfishness and of course his sense of humor. That was his legacy and it will never be forgotten.
John’s funeral will be held Monday, July 10, 2017 at 8:45 am from the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway (at Saint Mary’s Square) in Taunton followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am at St. Anthony’s Church, School St. Taunton.
Interment will follow in Saint Joseph Cemetery.
